“because we couldn’t remember their fucking names.”
– keith, upon being asked why the stones album was called “some girls”
“if i show up at your house ten years from now and find nothing in your living room but the readers digest, nothing on your bedroom nighttable but the newest dan brown novel, and nothing in your bathroom but jokes for the john, i’ll chase you down to the end of your driveway and back screaming, “where are your books? you graduated college ten years ago, so how come there are no damn books in your house? why are you living on the intellectual equivalent of kraft macaroni and cheese?” i sound like i’m joking about this, but i’m not.”
– stephen king, in a commencement speech at the university of maine, may 2005.
this is slightly amusing to me because mr. king himself is my guilty pleasure, end-of-the-night quick read of choice (never dan brown… god forbid); stephen is a smart man, though, and i can think of plenty of people who need such an intervention.
created by lisa congdon of san francisco, a collection a day 2010 is exactly what it sounds like. here are 2 of my favorites so far:
day 1: vintage erasers.
day 5: vintage pencil leads.

“god, i’m glad i’m not me.”
– while reading a newspaper article about himself, don’t look back (1967).
bob, i’m glad you’re you. you are still a god among men.
diane kruger with a pentax 6×7 camera, complete with wooden handle!
this photo is just so clean and pretty and relaxed. i wish this were my room.
except for that comma splice, i wholeheartedly approve.
cat stevens being odd, lounging around. i am so into the seventies right now.
“you know my feelings- every day is a gift. it’s just… does it have be a pair of socks?”
– gangster wisdom from tony soprano.
