…doesn’t mean i’m a com-mu-nist!

so, at sxsw there was a huge line for she & him, and i walked away from seeing their showcase, but i caught billy bragg’s set on st. patrick’s day. it was unforgettably heartfelt and just damn good. my favorite things to hear him play were probably “to have and to have not” & “way over yonder in the minor key.”

the time is upon us.

see y’all in texas for sxsw music 2010! [also notable: this is 320 TXP film – my absolute fave that just got discontinued by those jerks over at kodak! yikes.]

quote of the day: a malcontent

above: a young hunter’s press pass….for the jersey shore herald!

“like most of the others, i was a seeker, a mover, a malcontent, and at times a stupid hell-raiser. i was never idle long enough to do much thinking, but i felt somehow that my instincts were right. i shared a vagrant optimism that some of us were making real progress, that we had taken an honest road, and that the best of us would inevitably make it over the top. at the same time, i shared a dark suspicion that the life we were leading was a lost cause, that we were all actors, kidding ourselves along on a senseless odyssey. it was the tension between these two poles – a restless idealism on one hand and a sense of impending doom on the other – that kept me going.”

the sad thing is, making these actually helped me wrap my head aroud what i want and need to bring with me to texas next week (even though some of these items are just coveted, not owned… at the moment).
