here are some blogs i like. this is long overdue.

party on damen, the violet hour’s bartenders’ blog:
recipes & goings-on in the world of libations.

nerd boyfriend;
or, how to make the man in your life dress like your dream date.

tóxico cultura:
well-curated ideas, photography, & inspiration desde méxico,
“because creativity is not a luxury. it is indispensable.”

paleofuture: the future that never was.
the convergence of history and sci-fi = i have serious blogger jealousy over this one.

drinking with rules,
a concerted effort towards giving your drunkenness rhyme and reason:
gonna be famous. you heard it here first.

i’ll probably think of some more in a bit.

quote of the day: a drinking song

drrink to-day and drown all sorrow,
you shall perhaps not do’t to-morrow;
best while you have it use your breath,
there is no drinking after death.
wine works the heart up, wakes the wit,
there is no cure ‘gainst age, but it;
it helps the head-ach, cough, and tissick,
and is for all diseases physick.
then let us swill, boys, for our health;
who drinks well, loves the common-wealth:
and he that will to bed go sober,
falls with the leaf still in october.

for new year’s eve:

on the way out for the night, don’t use the car mirror to fix your make-up. “man needs it in driving.” man is lazy and doesn’t like to turn around to check for cars. having to do things the right way “annoys him very much.”

don’t drink too much; a man “expects you to keep your dignity all evening.” as if. according to the author, drinking “may” make some girls “seem” clever… definitely something to avoid.

don’t sit in awkward positions?! this is just impossible. also, “never look bored, even if you are.” – ?!? chewing gum is “(not advised).”

“careless women” (!) are unattractive (!?). and “when a man dances he wants to dance,” not talk. riiight.

…ladies, get ready to break all these rules in just a few short hours.
