now THAT is great hair. and decidedly manly.
why is it that so many dudes nowadays refuse to let their hair just be?
the doors, 1970. looking blasé.
at the risk of sounding exactly like my 9th-grade self, i will always love jim morrison’s hair.
on a good day, i’d be the girl in the cute minidress taking a photo with my trusty twin lens.
on a worse day, i’d be this photographer that’s receiving the evil eye.
actually, that wouldn’t be too bad of a day either, i guess.
happy new year from the doors, los angeles, california, 1969… 40 years ago! what?!

“oh, don’t ask why… oh, don’t ask why…”
the doors perform at the kongresshalle, frankfurt, westdeutschland, 1968.
it’s really amazing how jim would writhe around on stage. on video, it’s absolutely breathtaking…. it looks like he’s actually possessed. i’ve loved these photos since i was 15, but i only want to look at them in this order – as if he’s getting up, not sinking down to the floor. dramatic, nonetheless.
“for.. if.. we don’t find… the next whiskey bar,
i tell you we must die… i tell you we must die…
i tell you, i tell you, i tell you we must die!”
